August Vermeylen

August Vermeylen ( born May 12, 1872 in Brussels, † January 10, 1945 in Ukkel ) was a Flemish writer, literary critic, art historian and politician. He published a total of 20 books and sat from 1921 to 1945 as the representative of the Belgian Labour Party in the Belgian Senate.

In 1893 he founded together with Prosper Van Langendonck, Cyriel Buysse and Emmanuel de Bom the literary journal Van Nu en Straks.

His most famous work is perhaps the novel The Eternal Jew of 1906, however did not play any role for the later Nazi propaganda film.
