Augustenborg Municipality

August Borg municipality ( German: municipality Augustenburg ) was a commune in the middle of the island of Als in the region Syddanmark ( German: Region of Southern Denmark ) in southwest Denmark. It originated with the municipal reform in 1970, when the four municipalities Asserballe ( German: Atzerballig ), August Borg ( German: August Castle), and Ketting Notmark ( German: Nottmark ) were merged to form the new municipality. In the municipal reform of 2007, the municipality went together with the municipalities Nordborg ( German: Norburg ), Sydals ( German: Südalsen ), Sønderborg ( German: Sonderburg ), Broager ( German: Broacker ) Sundeved ( German: Sundewitt ) and Gråsten ( German: Gravenstein ) in the comprehensive 70,000 inhabitants metropoloitan Sønderborg on.
