Augustin Ndindiliyimana

Augustin Ndindiliyimana (* 1943) is a former Rwandan general and convicted war criminal.

It was during the genocide in Rwanda Chief of Staff of the Gendarmerie of Rwanda.

On 17 May 2011, the UN War Crimes Tribunal for Rwanda sentenced him to 11 years in prison for genocide. As he had already spent 11 years in custody, he was able to leave the court a free man. Simultaneously with him Augustin Bizimungu has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. The different periods of detention were justified by the fact that Ndindiliyimana, unlike Bizimungu, had only limited control over his subordinates.
