Augustinos Kapodistrias

Augustinos Count Kapodistrias (Greek Αυγουστίνος Καποδίστριας; * 1778 on Corfu, † May 1857 ) was a Greek politician and from 1831 to 1832, succeeding his brother Ioannis Kapodistrias Greek President.

Augustinos Kapodistrias was appointed in 1828 by his brother to Aegina and in 1829 appointed despite his lack of political training for governors in the provinces of the Greek mainland. Its seat was in Kostri. On March 22, 1829, he took the surrender of Lepanto contrary, conquered the fortress Mesolonghi that had fallen on 17 May, and occupied Anatoliko. Then he dealt mainly with the organization of the army after his brother's plans. Since he lacked financial resources and experience in military affairs, hardly led to results.

After his brother's assassination of Kapodistrias was born on December 20, 1831, his successor in the presidency. After there had been riots against his government, he laid on April 13, 1832, however, already resigned and embarked with his brother's corpse to Corfu, where he died in May 1857.
