Augusto Barrera

Augusto Barrera Guarderas ( born December 11, 1961 in Quito, Ecuador) is an Ecuadorian doctor, social scientists, politicians, and since July 31, 2009 Mayor of Quito.

Life

Barrera has studied at the Universidad Central del Ecuador from 1979 to 1986 Medicine, at the FLACSO Quito from 1997 to 1999 and at the Universidad Internacional de Andalucía 1999-2001 Social and Political Sciences. He has given, among others, at the FLACSO Quito, the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar and the Universidad Central del Quito Ecuador courses in social sciences. He was from January 2005 to October 2008 in the City Council of Quito. Barrera is a member of Alianza País.
