Aula regia

Aula regia (Latin for " royal castle, residence, portico " ), also called Palas room, is the name of the royal halls in palaces. In the Middle Ages the term was also used as a synonym for the palaces themselves.

A surviving, former Visigothic Aula regia is the later rededicated to the church of Santa María del Naranco in Oviedo, built around 850 as Aula regia Ramiro I. A Aula regia is also detected in the Aachen royal palace. The King's Hall Ingelheim Imperial Palace was digitally reconstructed. Architectural model for all was the Constantine Basilica in Trier.

Aula regia is also called the reception hall in the Domus Flavia, the Palace of Domitian on the Palatine Hill in Rome.
