Aulnay-sous-Bois

Aulnay -sous -Bois is approximately 20 kilometers north-east of Paris, this French city in the Seine -Saint- Denis. It was called until 1903, Aulnay -les- Bondy (or even earlier Aulnay -les- Bondies ).

It has 81 880 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011), of which about 55,000 live in Aulnay -sous- Bois- North and 25,000 in Aulnay -sous -Bois -Sud. This makes it the third largest city of the department.

Policy

Nationwide gained fame Aulnay -sous -Bois in November 2005 by the riots that took their origin in this region.

Economy

Since 1973, the community was the site of the biggest French car manufacturer PSA Peugeot Citroën, which employed about 3,000 people. On 26 October 2013, the production was stopped. The plant is to be closed in 2014. Between 1973 and 2013 about 8.5 million vehicles in Aulnay -sous -Bois were produced.
