Auranofin (trade name: Ridaura ) is an organic gold compound that is used as a drug in the basic therapy of chronic progressive polyarthritis. The mechanism of action of the substance is not known, but it is believed to engage in operations of the immune system. Also under discussion whether the gold with the SH groups reacted.
Auranofin is orally applicable and has been first approved in 1982. The finished product is available in many EU countries.
