Aurelio Peccei

Aurelio Peccei ( born July 4, 1908 in Turin, † March 14, 1984 in Rome ) was an Italian industrialist and co-founder of the Club of Rome.

Biography

Aurelio Peccei was born in the Italian industrial city of Turin and raised. In 1930 he finished his studies at the University of Turin with a degree in economics. On behalf of Fiat, he worked in various positions in China. In 1938 he returned to Italy. During the Second World War he joined the partisan group Giustizia e Libertà at (Eng. justice and freedom ). Because of its affiliation with the anti-fascist movement Peccei was arrested in February 1943 and released only 25 months later. Immediately after the war, he was co-founder in 1946 of Alitalia. He had held several influential positions both in Italian and in international companies and institutions in the course of his life.

Special attention is given to his life due to the fact that he has joined forces with Alexander King in 1968 the Club of Rome. The publications of this association - the 1972 published study on the future of the world economy is to emphasize the limits to growth - excited also because of their negative forecasts worldwide media interest.
