Aurelio Sabattani
Aurelio Cardinal Sabattani ( born October 18, 1912 in Casal Fiumanese, Bologna, Italy, † April 19, 2003 at the Vatican ) was Prelate of Loreto Territorialprälatur and later became a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.
Life
Aurelio Sabattani studied in Imola, Bologna and Rome, the subjects of Catholic theology and philosophy and received on 26 July 1935, the sacrament of Holy Orders. He then entered the service of the Vatican Secretariat of State, where he held various responsibilities until 1955. In addition, he taught at the Seminary of Imola and was in the local bishopric adviser to the Christian teacher and judge at the diocesan court. In 1955 he was auditor at the Tribunal of the Roman Rota and served as chaplain to the Catholic Association of Physicists.
On June 24, 1965 Pope Paul VI appointed him. Titular Archbishop of Iustiniana Prima and the prelates of the Territorialprälatur Loreto and pontifical envoy to the sanctuary of Loreto. He received his episcopal consecration Amleto Giovanni Cardinal Cicognani on 25 July of the same year; Co-consecrators were the then Archbishop Curia Francesco Carpino and the Bishop of Imola, Benigno Carrara. 1971 Aurelio Sabattani Secretary, 1982 Pro- Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signature and Pro- President of the Vatican Court of Appeals. On February 2, 1983, Pope John Paul II was a cardinal deacon with the title Diakonia Apollinare alle Terme Neroniane - Alessandrine in the College of Cardinals, and appointed him to the Cardinal Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura and President of the Fabric of St. Peter's. The management of the Apostolic Signatura Cardinal put Sabattani on 1 July 1988, the management of the Fabric on 1 July 1991 each for reasons of age. In 1990 he enlisted as a Service now on elder in his class Cardinal cardinal deacon until he was appointed while retaining its titular church of Cardinal Priest pro hac vice on July 5, 1993.
Aurelio Sabattani died on 19 April 2003 at the Vatican and was buried in the crypt of his family in Riolo Terme.
