Aurigeno

Aurigeno is a former municipality in the district of Maggia, in the district of Valle Maggia the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. The town is located on the right side of the Maggia river about 13 kilometers north of Locarno.

The village lies at an altitude of 341 m.s.l.m. and is now part of the established church in April 2004 Maggia.

History

The village includes the hamlet Terra di Fuori and Ronchini. First mentioned in 1276 as Urigeno, can still be found in the district Ronchini many houses from the 17th and 18th centuries. One can also see other examples of rural culture.
