Aurora County, South Dakota

Aurora County is a county located in the state of South Dakota in the United States. 3,058 people lived here in 2000. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Plankinton.

History

Aurora County was named after the Roman goddess of dawn. The County was created on February 22, 1879. Plankinton was county seat, a fact that was ratifitziert in November 1882 by the voters.

Geography

The county has an area of 1845 square kilometers. Of these 11 square kilometers (0.61 percent) of water. It is bordered clockwise to the counties: Jerauld County, Sanborn County, Davison County, Douglas County, Charles Mix County and Brule County.
