Aurora (mythology)

Aurora is initially the Latin name of Dawn. The name Aurora therefore appears in the Latin works in place of the Greek goddess Eos, often not distinguishing between a poetic designation of dawn and a personal imaginary goddess. As the Greek Eos is sister of the sun god Helios and the moon goddess Selene, the Roman Aurora accordingly regarded as sister of the sun god Sol and the moon goddess Luna. A somehow independent of the Greek Roman mythography not exist.

In the Etruscans their corresponded the goddess Thesan.
