Aurora (Ontario)

Aurora [ aʊ̯ɹɔɹə ] is a Canadian city with 53 203 inhabitants. It is located in York Region, approximately 40 km north of Toronto in the Oak Ridges Moraine. Many residents of Aurora commute to Toronto and the city belongs to the Greater Toronto Area. 2006 was one of Aurora for the first time among the 100 largest municipalities in Canada ( # 97 ), in 2001, Aurora was 113 largest municipality.

History

1793 was Lieutenant Governor John Graves Simcoe, the order to extend the Yonge Street to Holland Landing. The road was paved as a foundation for a new settlement.
