Ausra Fridrikas

Ausra Fridrikas (formerly Aušra or Aušrelė Žukienė; born April 30, 1967 in Varėna, Lithuanian SSR) is a former handball player. She was honored by the IHF World handball 1999.

Success with teams

International Fridrikas played first for the Soviet women's national handball team (165 inserts), and later for Lithuania (86 missions ) and last for Austria (133 inserts).

In the Men's Handball World Cup 1990 Fridrikas was with the Soviet Union Handball World Champion, with Austria, she won the 1996 European Championships and the 1999 World Cup bronze respectively. In the 1999 World Cup Fridrikas was voted " most valuable player ".

At the 2000 Olympic Games in Austria Team Fridrikas stood and reached fifth place.

Success with clubs

With Egle Vilnius Fridrikas won the 1988 EHF Cup, with Hypo Niederösterreich Austria from 1993 to 2000 throughout both the Austrian Championship as well as the Austrian Cup, the 1993 European Champion Clubs' Cup and in the years 1994, 1995, 1998 and 2000, the EHF Champions League. With Slagelse FH Fridrikas won the 2003 EHF Cup and the 2004 and 2005 Champions League. In 2003, she was with Slagelse Danish Cup winner and 2003 and 2005 Danish Champion.

2005 Fridrikas returned to Austria, she played for the ZV McDonald 's Wiener Neustadt, from the 2006/2007 season back for their old club Hypo Niederösterreich Austria. With Hypo northeast, she won a second time the Austrian league and cup double. 2007 ended Ausra Fridrikas her career.

Coaching career

Ausra Fridrikas took over in October 2011 as coach of the Austrian national team girls (born in 1996).

Private

Ausra Fridrikas is married to the former Lithuanian national football team Robertas Fridrikas and mother of a son.
