Austin 15/20

The Austin 15/20 hp was the first car that the Austin Motor Company produced. It was built only in 1906. 1913/1914 was again offered a car with that name.

Year by year

The first Austin had a side-valve four-cylinder in-line engine with 105 mm bore diameter and 127 mm stroke, giving a displacement of 4,399 cc. Before Herbert Austin had already designed cars for Wolseley Motor and Tool Company and then took the idea for his first car, but was marketed under his full name Herbert Austin.

It was only the second model from this year, which led 25/30 hp was the first car the name Austin.

In 1913, another car with the designation 15/20 hp. His page also controlled four-cylinder engine developed from the combination of the cylinder of the Austin 15 with 89 mm bore diameter and the crankshaft of the great Austin with 127 mm stroke. This resulted in a displacement of 3,161 cc. This engine developed a maximum power of 28 bhp ( 20.6 kW).

The 4- seater touring car was available in two different wheelbases and represented the middle class in the Austin model range. With the outbreak of World War in 1914 the production was interrupted without successors.
