The first Austin 40 hp had a side-valve four-cylinder in-line engine with 121 mm bore diameter and 127 mm stroke, giving a displacement of 5843 cc. There were two chassis with different wheel bases to choose from.

In both these versions, the car was built until the end of 1911.

In 1912 came the successor. His page also controlled four-cylinder engine had 125 mm drilled cylinder and the crankshaft of the great Austin models with 127 mm stroke. This resulted in a displacement of 6236 cc.

This touring car represented the upper class in the Austin model range. 1914 40 hp was eliminated without replacement.
