Australia Act 1986

The Australia Act is a law that was passed by Parliament in 1985 and 1986 in Australia and the UK Parliament. The Act legislative and judicial branches of Australia were independent of the relevant UK institutions.

The then Governor-General of Australia, Sir Ninian Stephen, approved the law on December 4, 1985. Through a statement, the Queen Elizabeth II signed the Australian government based in Canberra on March 3, 1986, the Australia Act finally came into force.
