Australian Baseball League

The Australian Baseball League is a professional baseball league in Australia. The League is administered by the Australian Baseball Federation (ABF ) and the Major League Baseball ( ALB).

The ABL will take place from November to February, so some players in the ABL play in the minor leagues in North America. This makes the ABL to a " winter league ", although in Australia during the summer season.

Organization

The ABL is a joint venture of the MLB (75 %) and ABF (25 %). Unlike the traditional franchise model in which private individuals or private companies are the owners of the teams include all teams in the league. One of the advantages of this structure is that the financial situation can be managed very carefully so as to ensure that all teams are equally " viable ". The League is fully covered for the first five seasons financially by the MLB and the ABL.
