Austras koks

Austra coke is the Latvian name for the " tree of the East " (or " tree of the Dawn" ) in the Baltic mythology. It is said that the tree grows from the point of sunrise along the firmament to the point of sunset ( dusk ).

The Austra coke has silver leaves, copper roots and gold branches. It is commonly accepted as oak, which grows along the Daugava in Kurzeme, Vidzeme and Latgale.

In Latvia, the Austra is coke for the universe:

• Its roots symbolize the underworld
• The trunk symbolizes the middle world
• The leaves symbolize the sky, to which everything aims.

He embodies the past, the present and the future - our ancestors, ourselves and our children. He is the spiritual bond between these time periods and generations.
