Austria national handball team

The Austrian men's national handball team represents Austria in international tournaments in handball.

We've played on September 13, 1925 in Halle ( Saale ) against the German national team the first international match in handball history, the Austrian team won it 6-3.

Most-capped player is Ewald Humenberger with 246 inserts before Patrick Fölser with 215 and Andreas Dittert with 203 games.

Participation in Championships ( handball )

The team took three times now in Handball World Championships in the hall part. At the World Cup 1938 in Germany, the team won the silver medal. At the World Cup 1958 in the German Democratic Republic Austria failed in the first round, at the 1993 World Championships in Sweden took the team after the first round the last group space and secured two wins and a draw in the placement round at the end of the 14th Place.

As host of the European Handball Championship 2010 Austria was the first time qualified for a European Handball Championship.
