Austro (automobile)

Austro - Cyclecar was a manufacturer of automobiles in Austria - Hungary.

Company History

Fritz Hückel in 1913 formed the company in Nový Jičín and began the production of automobiles. The brand name was Austro - Cyclecar or Austro only. The general agency took over Eduard Schlosser. 1914 production ended. Fritz Hückel founded after the First World War, the small car plants Fritz Hückel in Šenov u Nového Jičína.

Rolling stock

The first model 5/7 hp was a Cyclecar. It was powered by a V-2 engine of the NSU Motor Works. Later found water-cooled V2 engines of Laurin & Klement use. The gearbox had four speeds. The power transfer was made by means of chains. On a differential has been omitted. Special feature was the independent suspension. The vehicle weighed 260 kg. The original price was 2800 crowns.

1914 was followed by a larger model with a four-cylinder engine and 14 hp. Engine power transmitted through a propeller shaft to the rear axle, which now had a differential. The empty weight was given as 400 kg.

Motor race

The vehicles were also used in auto racing. Eduard Schlosser was awarded on September 7, 1913 second place in the reliability test of the General Motor Drivers Association ( AMV ) around the Semmering behind Sascha Kolowrat Austro-Daimler Sascha. For the four-cylinder model, an insert in the race Zbraslav after jiloviste of 5 April 1914 listed.
