Authenticity and Modernity Party

The Party of Authenticity and Modernity ( mazirisch: ⴰ ⵎ ⵓ ⵍ ⵍ ⵉ ⵏ ⵜ ⵣ ⵖ ⵕ ⵜ ⴷ ⵜ ⵎ ⴰ ⵜ ⵔ ⴰ ⵔ ⵜ, Arabic حزب الأصالة و المعاصرة, French Parti Authenticité et Modernité, abbreviation PAM) is a Moroccan political party, the former interior minister Fouad Ali El Himma on August 10 was founded in 2008. Ali El Himma is considered a close confidant of King Mohammed VI. and the PAM is perceived as the party of the monarchy.

Foundation

Precursor of the party were the block of authenticity and modernity in Parliament, which had been formed after the 2007 parliamentary elections, as well as a reasoned El Himma think tank called " movement of all democrats" ( Mouvement de Tous les Democrats, MTD). A number of smaller parties merged with the Party of Authenticity and Modernity: Al- Ahd, the National Democratic Party (PND ), the Alliance of Liberties, Environmental and Development Party and the citizens' initiative for development. The main objective of the organization was the rise of the Islamist Party of Justice and Development ( PJD ) oppose something. The PAM presented itself as reformist and modernist, but it lacked a clear political program. She tried to position itself between the Istiqlal -led government and the opposition PJD. Due to the uncertainty of the political direction and strategy of the party left al - Ahd and PND PAM soon after their accession again.

As favored by the royal house party, which campaigns for the conservation of the leading role of the monarch, the PAM can be seen in a series with former protégé of the palace party projects. In front of her, these were the front for the defense of the constitutional institutions ( FDIC ). During the 1960s, the National Coalition of Independents in the 1970s and the Constitutional Union in the 1980s Although El Himma is de facto party leader, he has taken no official position in their leadership.

Development since 2009

On February 22, 2009 Mohamed Cheikh Biadillah was elected the first Secretary General.

In the 2009 municipal elections, the Party of Authenticity and Modernity strongest force was displaced and the ruling Istiqlal party to second place. Due to the overflow of MPs from other parties, the PAM was one of the strongest groups in Parliament. As of October 2009, it provided the President of the Upper House.

Prior to the parliamentary elections in Morocco 2011, the PAM founded an alliance with seven other parties of different political orientation. It was called "Alliance for Democracy ". She won 11.1% of the vote and 47 deputies, while the Islamist PJD emerged as the winner of the elections. The PAM explained to her to go into opposition.
