Autodesk Revit

Revit is a more comprehensive planning products branch of technology from Autodesk for architects, building engineers and structural engineers. Revit is not based on AutoCAD, but contains its own, new graphics kernel. While the basic product from Autodesk, AutoCAD, not object-oriented works, Revit supports the new technology BIM (Building Information Modeling). Revit consists of Revit Structure for structural design in structural engineering and building construction, Revit Architecture for Building Design and Revit MEP for building.

In Revit 2009, the AccuRender rendering engine was replaced by the mental ray rendering engine. Revit provides interfaces to Autodesk 3ds Max Design and Autodesk 3ds Max for the high-end visualization of projects.

History
