Autolib'

Autolib ' is a public car sharing with electric cars ( Blue Cars) in the Paris metropolitan area. Opened in December 2011, the system operated by the Bolloré Group project is to 2013 [ deprecated] in the construction phase. The name of Autolib 'is a portmanteau word from automobile (car) and liberte ( freedom ).

Project

Autolib ' was created at the initiative of the incumbent mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoë, and was a big issue of his campaign in the spring of 2008. The system is connected to the existing since 2007 public bicycle rental offer Vélib' ajar. System start was on December 5, 2011 250 Blue Cars.

The number of subscribers grew in the first year of around eight thousand end of January to just 47 thousand end of November 2012. Investments

Total: 200 million euros (estimated) Of which:

• 60 million euros by the operator
• 35 million euros Paris
• 15 million Euros from the local authorities, which subsidize any parking station with 50,000 euros (sum at 300 stations in the suburbs ).

Cost of the subscription

There are three subscriptions offered: for 144 euros per year, 15 € per week or 10 € per day. There are also user costs 5-8 euros per half hour. For families, there perks.

To register a driver's license, photo identification and a bank card is required.

Current origin

Autolib ' draws its power from Electricité Réseau Distribution France (ERDF ), a 100 percent subsidiary of Electricité de France (EdF ). The EdF generated electricity in 2010 to 74.5 percent nuclear, 9.2% in conventional thermal power plants, 16.2% hydropower and 0.1 % from other renewable energy sources such as wind power.
