Autonomous University of Zacatecas

The Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas ( UAZ ) is a public university in the Mexican state of Zacatecas. It is named after the politician Francisco García Salinas. The institution is organized into 28 teaching units and has its own museums.

History

The University's history dates back to the year 1832, when the Instituto de Literario García was established, from which, in turn, in 1885, the Instituto Científico y Literario de Zacatecas emerged. During the Revolution the institution to Colegio del Estado 1920 and then to the Instituto de Ciencias de Zacatecas was. On October 10, 1959, the educational institution was given the status of an autonomous university and renamed as Instituto de Ciencias first Autónomo de Zacatecas. The present name, the university since September 6, 1968.

Sports

The football team of the University Sports clubs established in 2006 plays in the Tercera División de México ( 3 league).
