In the series X 4200 is ten observation car, which were used on the scenic routes of the SNCF.
The SNCF ordered this car in 1956 and put them after delivery mid-1959 on the lines Marseille Nîmes - Vichy, Marseille- Nice, Marseille and Digne - Geneva - Digne in Eilzugverkehr one. Your decommissioning took place in the 1980s.
The first class with 44 seats located in the upper part views and offers a 360 ° view. In the second class, which is divided into two rooms behind the cabs, there are large windows that provide a good view. Under the viewing platform are the engine room and the luggage compartment. The vehicles are equipped with a ventilation system for regulating the temperature in the viewing platform. Air conditioning was provided, but was installed only in the first railcar X 4201. The passenger spaces are illuminated with fluorescent tubes.
