Autoreille

Autoreille is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Autoreille situated at an altitude of 272 m above sea level, 4 km south of Gy and about 22 km northwest of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the southwest of the département, in a valley in the western area of ​​the heights of the Monts de Gy.

The area of ​​9.98 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the undulating landscape between the river valleys of the Saône and Ognon. The central part of the area occupied by the basin of Autoreille that is used primarily for agricultural purposes. It opens to the west to the Valley of Colombine, but shows no above-ground rivers, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. The trough is flanked by the wooded heights of the Monts de Gy: Bois de Natoy ( to 370 m ) in the north, Bois de Plumont ( with 374 m the highest elevation of Autoreille ) in the east, Grands Bois de Pin ( to 330 m) in the Southeast and Bois de la Vergenne ( 357 m) in the south. In geological- tectonic respect, the Monts de Gy consist of an alternation of calcareous and sandy- marly sediments that were deposited in the middle and upper Jurassic and the Tertiary. With a narrow tip, the municipality's area extends eastward over the plateau up to the top of the escarpment, which leads on to the basin of Fontenelay.

Neighboring communities of Autoreille are Gy to the north, Gézier -et- Fontenelay in the east, Pin, Courcuire and Avrigney - Virey in the south and Charcenne in the West.

History

Is first mentioned Autoreille in the year 1313. During the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government was responsible for half of the men of Gy and the Lords of Rougemont. Together with the Franche -Comté Autoreille came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France.

Attractions

The village church of Autoreille was built in the 18th century. Next to the church stands the Lavoir, which was constructed in 1831 in a style reminiscent of the ancient world. From the former seat of power are only a few remnants remain.

Population

With 301 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) is Autoreille to the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 402 persons were still counted ), a continuous population growth was recorded since the mid-1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes. The main access is from the main road D12, which runs from Pesmes by Gy. Further road links exist with Charcenne, Gy and Courcuire.
