The A15 motorway, also called Autocamionale della Cisa, is an Italian highway that leads from Parma to La Spezia. It is part of the E 33 and provides an important link between the Po Valley and the Tyrrhenian coast represents the highway is currently 108 km long and up to Santo Stefano di Magra toll.

General

The first plans for the construction of this highway are from the 50s, with the aim to build an alternative route to the A7 motorway, which connects the Po Valley to the Tyrrhenian coast. On 24 May 1975, the A15 was finally opened. The highway is the highway triangle Parma ( A1) to the motorway junction with the A12 from the Autocamionale della Cisa SpA operated. The operator for the section Santo Stefano di Magra - La Spezia is the SALT pA.

Course

The A15 at Parma branches of the A1 in a southeasterly direction from and initially runs west of the city along. It runs until Borgotaro parallel to the river Taro, which is also repeatedly crossed. A notable building here is the almost 1000 m long bridge " Taro 1" at Fornovo di Taro. Here, the highway reaches the northern outlets of the Maritime Alps and reaches about 20 km further south at Tugo to almost 800 meters above sea level the vertex, the Passo della Cisa. As a result of the above- mentioned reliefs there are north of the main ridge numerous curves with partially tight radii, so there a speed limit of 60 km / h is reduced. For a long time the A15 was for testing purposes for trucks ( Italian: camion ) is used, which explains the alternative name Autocamionale della Cisa.

On Cisapass the heart of the Autostrada della Cisa is passed, the 2040 m long " Vallico tunnel ". At the same time here is also the region border between Emilia - Romagna ( Parma ) and Tuscany ( province of Carrara - Massa). In the further course to Pontremoli motorway leads downhill through several long tunnels and numerous bridges. From Pontremoli to Santo Stefano M. The A15 runs in Val di Magra, in S. Stefano eventually reaching the A12. This leaves the Tuscany and Liguria motorway can be reached and the province of La Spezia, the end point of the A15. Overall, the A15 runs through 17 twin-bore tunnels and over viaducts 97.

Future Plans

Meanwhile, the expansion of the motorway to the north is planned that construction should start in spring 2012, but the work due to the current crisis in Italy has been delayed until further out. When you want to ultimately started the construction is not known. See the plans to be open in Nogarole Rocca before it directly into the A22 ( Brenner motorway ) and prepare a shorter connection between the burner and the Ligurian Sea ( Mediterranean Coast ). 17.5 km to be run in the Emilia -Romagna, 52km in Lombardy and 15.5 km in the Veneto region.
