The Autostrada A24 (Italian for, A24 ' ), also called Strada dei parchi, is an Italian highway, leading from Rome over L' Aquila and Teramo is located in the regions of Lazio and Abruzzo. The 166.5 km long toll road is from the Italian motorway company Strada dei Parchi SpA managed.

History and development of state

The track is expanded through four lanes. The first section from Rome to Castel Madama in 1969 and opened to traffic, 2009, the last section was completed.

Course

The route passes through mountainous terrain which is why many tunnels and bridges had to be built.

The A24 begins in Rome, where it branches off from the Eastern ring road. At the GRA, the actual chainage starts. At km 11 it intersects with the A1 near Tivoli. Further to the east it passes at Vicovaro and Castel Madama, crossing at km 72 with the A25 and in its further course it reaches the regional capital of Abruzzo, L' Aquila.

The longest with 10,173 m double-tube motorway tunnel in Europe, the Gran Sasso tunnel runs between Teramo and L' Aquila. After 158 kilometers, the A24 reaches the end point in Teramo.
