Autosuggestion

Autosuggestion ( Greco- Latin: self-influence ) is the process a person trained by their unconscious mind to believe in something. This is achieved through self-hypnosis or repeated self - affirmations, and can be regarded as a self-induced effect on the psyche. The effectiveness of the auto-suggestive thoughts formulas can be increased through mental visualization of the objective pursued. The success of auto-suggestion is more probable, the more consistent and longer ( or more often) it is applied.

When auto-suggestion, the same formulaic outlined idea is repeated over time in the form of mental exercises until he has become an integral part of the unconscious thought process. This is often done in combination with relaxation techniques. Depending on weltanschaulichem background is expected that this idea turned into beliefs or facts. This process can be both intentionally as well as unintentionally done, although autosuggestion usually means the conscious application. Typical ways to influence one's own mind through auto-suggestion are: to visualize the effects of a conviction, they affirm verbally or to visualize mentally by permanent repetition (inner chant ).

The doctrine of auto-suggestion was founded by the French pharmacist Emile Coue in the 19th century. He noted that the effect of the drugs that he gave his customers, was influenced by it, with what words he handed them. From this observation he developed the idea that each person can improve their well -being by yourself telepromting suggestion formulas.

Among the application areas of autosuggestion include autogenic training, the mental training and positive thinking. Auto-suggestions are also part of esoteric and occult methods.
