Autumn (band)

Autumn is an alternative metal band from the Netherlands.

History

Autumn was by three former members of the band Internal Putrefaction 1995 - Bert Ferwerda, Meindert Sterk and Hilbrand van der Woude - founded. At that time, the band renamed itself under the name Stonehenge in the same year just before the arrival of keyboarder Menno Terpstra on to Autumn. Shortly thereafter, van der Woude left the band and was replaced by January Grijpstra. In the spring of 1996 completed a singer Welmoed Veersma the group.

In April 1997, Autumn created a first demo: Samhain. When demo number two, Autumn, played the first singer Veersma only the recorder, as you did to create a disease. New on vocals item was Nienke de Jong, who was already active in Her Enchantment. Jeroen Bakker also switched from Legacy of Hate to Autumn. With the demo Spring Starts with Autumn finally received at Samhain Records signed a contract, but shortly before the recording of the debut album left in July 2001 the two guitarists Ferwerda Bakker and the band. With Jasper Koenders is Autumn brought another member of Her Enchantment as a substitute. On 24 June 2002, finally appeared as the first album When Lust Evokes the Curse. Shortly after the second free space on the guitar by Jens van der Valk from God Dethroned was occupied. A tour of the Netherlands with Within Temptation and After Forever, including appearance at the Dynamo Open Air, nothing stood in the way. Then at Mera Luna Festival 2003, she first played a concert outside the Benelux countries.

On 24 September 2004, they released their second album called Summer's End. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland it appeared, however, only five months later, on 21 February 2005. Koenders left the band in late 2004, but was quickly replaced by Mats van der Valk, since a European tour as support decency of Within Temptation.

In February 2007, Autumn signed to Metal Blade Records, where then on 27 April 2007 the album My New World was released. In January 2008, Nienke de Jong announced her resignation from the band. Shortly after their farewell concert on 29 February, it was announced with Marjan Welman her successor.

Cold Comfort, the fifth studio album, followed in November 2011. Here, the production style of My New Time was retained. Thus, the band announced that the album was produced due to the spatial distances of the individual members almost without a common session. The communication between them was limited largely to the Internet.
