Auður Jónsdóttir

Auður Jónsdóttir ( born March 30, 1973 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic writer and freelance journalist.

Life

Auður debuted as a writer in 1997 with the short story gifting, which was published in the literary magazine Andblær; since she published her short stories in newspapers and anthologies. In addition to novels, she is also dedicated to children 's literature; she wrote in 2002 a portrait of her grandfather, the Nobel Prize winner Halldór Laxness ( Skrýtnastur he Madur sjalfur ). In 2004 she won with her ​​novel Fólkið í kjallaranum the Icelandic Literature Prize, 2006, she was nominated to the novel for the Literature Prize of the Nordic Council.

In 2009, she works as a dramaturge for the Borgarleikhúsið (Reykjavik City Theatre).

Auður lives with her husband Þórarinn Leifsson in the Icelandic capital Reykjavik, having previously lived in Copenhagen and Barcelona.
