Auxentius of Durostorum

Auxentius was bishop of Durostorum in Niedermösien. He was a student and thus a contemporary of the Gothic bishop Ulfilas mission, that lived in the second half of the 4th century. About his origins and his life no details are known.

Like his teacher belonged to the Arian Auxentius direction of Christianity. He wrote a 383 Vita Wulfila ( Epistola de fide, vita et obitu Wulfilae ), not least constituted a justification of Arianism. Writing the Auxentius has survived only in a hand-written source in poor condition. It was discovered in 1840 in a Paris Codex.
