Auxentius of Mopsuestia

Auxentius was around 321 Bishop of Mopsuestia in Cilicia east. According to tradition, he had to leave the military service because he spite of the command of Emperor Licinius refused to sacrifice a statue of Bacchus grapes.

He is regarded as the owner of a cathedral in Mopsuestia for the Saints Tharakus, Probus and Andronicus, who had been executed during the persecution of Christians by Governor Maximus to 304 in Anazarbos.

Philostorgius called Bishop Auxentius as Arians.

His feast day is 18 December.
