AV Fryburgia

The AV ( Academic connection) Fryburgia is a university connection and section of the Swiss student association at the University of Fribourg ( Switzerland ). Male students of all faculties may be included in the club.

History

When after the turn of the century the connection life more and more former students took in the years to complete and Kommerse, pubs and balls attracted both their actual study as well as the student budget affected, stir in the circles of the time the only German-speaking Freiburger connection of the Swiss student association ( Sr. StV ) - AKV Alemannia - resistance. The prevailing strict customs made it difficult to pursue a regulated student life and so-called spree semester multiplied. In addition, the connection beings came, although at that time the membership of a connection for the students was the norm, more and more into disrepute.

In 1918, therefore, there was a separation - a part of Alemannia split off and founded his own connection, the AV Fryburgia. This connection would again focus more on the study and reduced the compulsory attendance of its members. At the same time forced drinking while essentially maintaining the komments ( a compound of the own rules of the drinking habits ) was abolished. Thus, the so-called reform movement of the Treaty of Sr. arrived in Freiburg and the AV Fryburgia was after the AV Berchtoldia (Bern), the second reform connection. The AV Froburger (Basel ) and the AV Guelph ( Zurich ) followed, and the latter compound was established with the significant contribution of Fryburgern.

The AV Fryburgia was then up in the 1970s into the large and dominant compounds in Freiburg. Only in the war years, the connection life was very limited because a large part of the compound was on active service. 1937 emerged the daughter connection AV Staufer from the AV Fryburgia. In contrast to the separation of the AKV Alemannia almost 20 years ago, this compound but peacefully split of the AV Fryburgia from and between the two compounds were always friendly bands. The same is true for the CA Rezia which arose from the Grisons Group of Fryburgia in 1957.

In the course of '68 took place in Sr. StV again to a reform movement. In the year of office of the President Central Altermatt (now Professor Emeritus of Arts and Altherr the AV Fryburgia ), the General Assembly of the Sister StV that the compounds can decide for each whether they intend to take women into the Aktivitas. In contrast to their daughter connections, the AV Fryburgia decided to leave it at the status quo and continue to include only male students. So it was that the Fryburgia today is the only male StV connection on the space of Freiburg, which does not " block " belongs to the ( the Confederation of academic Kommentverbindungen ).

The 68-movement brought it with that student associations despite the opening for women shrank. The number of members of the AV Fryburgia went back and leveled off despite interim highs at a significantly lower level one.

Even today, the connection used occasionally against the often conservative mainstream of Sr. StV. So the connection has rejected a communiqué of the State Treaty Council in the fall semester of 2010, in which the latter rejected the so-called scholarship initiative of the VSS and the initiative committee in turn assured the support.
