AV-Link
AV Link ( " AV.link " ) is a work based on SCART, expandable link system for the interconnection of Audio-/Videogeräten (eg TV, VCR, satellite receiver ) to transmit analog audio and video signals.
Method
Technical basis is the interconnection of devices using point-to- point connection. This connection is commonly known as SCART or in standardization as peritelevision compound. The basic standard DIN EN 50049-1 specifies possible point-to- point connections between two AV devices or between an AV device and the image display device ( television receiver or monitor). This standard signals, connector type and occupancy are fixed.
The connection of several devices are activated when the AV Link via a chain-like arrangement of the device connections. That's why can be found usually several jacks on one device. Thus, a variety of devices operate on a bus. The interconnection and the associated protocol is described in the standards of the DIN EN 50157 " AV Link ", which are a supplement to DIN EN 50049-1.
Name
AV Link goes back to a development of the company Philips. Most manufacturers use their own brand name for its implementation of the standards:
- Q-Link at Panasonic
- SmartLink, NEXTVIEWLink at Sony
- T-V link at JVC
- Megalogic at Grundig
- DATALOGIC at Metz
The protocol for connection of devices on a common bus for connecting Audio-/Videogeräten was taken with digital communication devices via HDMI and is called there Consumer Electronics Control ( CEC).
Functions
The functions of the AV Link depend on the capabilities of the devices.
Options are:
- Turn on the TV (from standby) when you insert a (long) video cassette or DVD into the player
- Switch the TV to the scart input when you press the VCR or DVD Play ( but also partly about switching voltage)
- Direct recording of the current TV program from the VCR or DVD recorder with one button (TV as a receiver for recorder )
- Acquisition of the sender channels of TV to VCR or DVD recorder or vice versa
- Shift from 4:3 and 16:9 ( but also partly about switching voltage)
