Avaza

Awaza is a tourism zone in Turkmenistan on the eastern side of the Caspian Sea, about 12 km west of the city of Turkmenbashi removed. Awaza arose mainly through revenues from the export of oil and gas and is used by the government and the ruling authoritarian President for propaganda purposes.

History

After the independence of Turkmenistan Saparmurat Niyazov President 1991, which went down particularly for his cult of personality in history. He laid the foundation stone for this tourism zone and had great plans, but these were only partially realized.

After his death in 2007, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov came to power as president and changed the plans partly massive, but continued the planning of the tourism zone. Meanwhile, a large number of hotels and tourist resorts in Awaza has arisen, it emerged since then, numerous jobs for the population in the otherwise structurally weak region.
