AVEBE

AVEBE is a Dutch company based in Veendam, whose main business is the production of starch and starch finishing products made ​​from potatoes. The Group maintains branches in Europe. These include production facilities in the Netherlands, Germany and Sweden.

History

The company was founded in 1919 as a sales office for the products Dutch starch factories. AVEBE is an abbreviation of Aardappelmeel Verkoop Bureau ( " Bureau of potato starch sale "). The acquisition of the DWM plant in Veendam and further investment in " Ter Apel Canal " activities in the 1960s were further extended to the production and processing of potato starch. In the 1970s, more of the Dutch starch factories were incorporated into the company, was until 1978 the last strength producer in the Netherlands, Royal Scholten honey taken over.

AVEBE was becoming an international company. Today AVEBE operates locations in 20 countries. This includes factories in Vlagtwedde ( Ter Apel Canal ), Foxhol and Aa en Hunze ( gasselternijveen ) in the Netherlands, Lüchow and Karstädt ( Prignitz ) / Dallmin in Germany and Malmo in Sweden.

Products

Its products AVEBE Group include native and refined potato starches for the food industry, the textile, paper and adhesives production, for the construction industry, and as a primary and an additive for animal feed. Criticism

AVEBE testing genetically modified potato varieties in different countries and is criticized for partially public. So demonstrations by opponents of genetic engineering took place in Germany and the Netherlands, and individual test fields were destroyed.
