Naked oats (Avena nuda )

The naked oat (Avena nuda ) is a cereal of the genus oats. This Haferart is called naked because the husk completely falls during threshing.

Features

The Naked Oats is an annual grass that reaches a height of 40 to 80 centimeters.

The lemmas have at the top of a one to two ( three ) mm long Grannenspitze. The lemma itself is thin-skinned and has very projecting nerves. The glumes are much shorter than the spikelets. The fruit is only loosely wrapped deck and palea. The spikelets are three-to vierblütig and 18 to 24 millimeters long. Bloom time is June to August.

Occurrence

The species occurs wild in front of the United Kingdom, Portugal, France, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and Greece. He usually grows as Beikraut in oat fields. It is restricted to the colline level stage.

Use

Naked Oats is hardly grown, in the past, probably more. It has a higher in comparison to other types of oat fat content and bittern. The Naked Oats is a high priority in the adequate nutrition given, for example in the processing to Frischkornbrei or as feed for the horses.
