Aventail

An aventail (also aventail ) is a medieval chainmail, which was attached to protect the neck and shoulders at the bottom of a helmet.

Description

The Aventail consisted of iron rings which were riveted to a chain braid. At this chainmail an approximately 4.5 cm wide leather strip was sewn at the top. History
