Aviation without Borders

Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen eV (LOG ) is a charity founded in 2003, (for example, together with its French sister organization Aviation Sans Frontières (ASF ) ) is nationally and internationally. It provides mainly logistical relief for the needy in crisis areas or in economically and socially weak environment.

Fields of activity

Primarily provides LOG assistance through the provision and coordination of flight capacity. To promote, for example, individuals, companies and airlines to children much-needed operations and transport medicines and relief supplies to crisis areas around the world.

The aid projects range from the company of children, Aircraft missions, disaster relief, delivery of humanitarian and medical supplies to the action Wings of Hope. The Wings of Hope campaign has to give the goal of disabled children and adults as well as children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to experience the fascination of aviation. It will be organized in collaboration with aero clubs for flights or rides in gliders, powered aircraft and balloons.

The projects are almost exclusively cared for by volunteers and funded by donations from private individuals or business enterprises ( cash donations or Passagier-/Frachtkapazitäten ).

Activities

• June 3, 2003: Foundation in Frankfurt am Main. President, the German astronaut Ulf Merbold.
• December 29, 2004: Following the devastating earthquake in the Indian Ocean on 26 December 2004 already the first shipment leaves with about 10 tons relief goods to Frankfurt am Main Airport to Sri Lanka.
• September 11, 2005: Lufthansa flies, organized by " Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen " mobile clinic, devastated by Hurricane Katrina of New Orleans.
• October 14, 2005 Lufthansa flies one of " Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen " and its French partner organization Aviation Sans Frontieres 105 tons of relief supplies in the rubble of the earthquake areas of Pakistan.
• January 10, 2006 start of another cargo jumbo jet with 105 t tents, stoves, food, winter clothing, medicines and baby food on behalf of Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen eV towards Pakistan.
