Avid Technology, Inc. is an American corporation with headquarters in Burlington, Massachusetts ( USA), which produces software and hardware for media production. The German office is located in Munich.

At Avid's core products include Media Composer ( in practical usage Avid titled) - a software for professional production of films, Pro Tools - a software for audio production and Sibelius - a music notation program. In all three categories listed, the respective Avid product industry standard and market leader. The company's products have been awarded with several Emmy Awards and in 1998 won an Oscar in the category of science and technology.

History
