Avondale Shipyard

The Avondale Shipyard is a shipyard in the United States. The shipyard is located about 20 miles upriver from New Orleans, Louisiana on the west bank of the Mississippi River.

History

The company was founded in 1938, oceangoing ships were first built in the 1950s. Between 1959 and 1985, the company of Ogden Corporation, Litton Industries was then. This was bought in 2001, with Avondale, Northrop Grumman.
