Avui

Avui ( Catalan for Today) is a Catalan daily newspaper based in Barcelona, which appears in all of Catalonia, and at times also in other Catalan-speaking regions of Spain, such as the Balearic Islands and Valencia.

Avui was founded in 1976 on the initiative of Jaume Vilalta i González, Josep Maria Puig i Salellas and Josep Espar i tico, the first Catalan-speaking daily newspaper after the end of the Franco regime. In 2009, she was the publishing house Hermes Comunicacions, which among other and El Punt appears over.

With effect from July 31, 2011 Avui merged with the newspaper El Punt for the largest circulation Catalan daily El Punt Avui.
