Awaji, HyÅgo
Awaji (Japanese淡 路 市, -shi ) is a city on the island Awajishima in Hyōgo Prefecture in Japan.
History
The town was founded on 1 April 2005 from the merger of the municipalities Awaji (淡 路 町, chō ), Higashiura (东浦 町, chō ), Hokudan (北 淡 町, chō ), Ichinomiya (一 宫 町, chō ) and Tsuna (津 名 町, -chō ) of the district Tsuna. The population of the urban area has decreased since 1960 from 66 305 at the time by 22% to 51 884.
