Awami National Party

The Awami National Party ( Pashtun ملي عوامي ګوند, Urdu عوامی نيشنل پارٹی; Acronym ANP ) is a Pakistani political party that represents in Parliament since the last election in 2008 13 seats. It was founded in 1986 by Abdul Wali Khan, and her current Chairman Asfandyar Wali Khan is the grandson of the freedom fighter Bacha Khan.

The political position of the Awami National Party is considered to be left as part of the run of the Pakistan People's Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement Government Cabinet; it is against extremism and advocates for secularism, democratic socialism, a government of the public sector and economic equality.

The Awami National Party is the largest Pashtun party in Pakistan. Although the center of their votes is in the Pashtun-dominated areas in and around Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it also has strongholds in the provinces of Balochistan and Sindh. The party supports friendly relations with the neighboring states of Afghanistan and India.
