Award

Under an award is meant an honor or appreciation received by a person, group or organization for outstanding achievement in a particular area. Many awards assess the areas of art, culture, science, business or civic engagement.

The awards include prices (English Award) of all kinds, decorations and medals, titles or other assessments.

Process

The ceremony usually takes place at a ceremony at which a certificate and possibly other items such as trophies, plaques, medals, medals, badges or ribbons are passed as an outward sign of the award. In special cases, an award presenter holds (sometimes several presenters ) a speech to the person to be honoring.

An award may be doped with a cash prize for the recipient, such as the Nobel Prize or the Pulitzer Prize. An award may also simply be a public acknowledgment of excellence, without leading to a ceremony or an award ceremony.

Some awards will be awarded in a particular rhythm, for example, annually (such as the Nobel Prize, for the death of the founder ), others irregularly and only ad hoc basis ( such as the Federal Cross of Merit ).

Awards are only awarded by any person or institution. The reputation of the award depends on the status of the offering party organization or institution in general, the criteria for the award and the composition of the committee which decides on the allocation ( jury ).
