Awolnation

Awolnation (proper spelling: AWOLNATION ) is an American indie rock band, and the solo project of Aaron Bruno ( former member of the band Under the Influence of Giants and Hometown Hero ).

History

The band is at Red Bull Records, and their first EP, Back from Earth was released on 18 May 2010 on iTunes. Awolnation has already occurred with Weezer and MGMT.

The first single of the band, Sail, rose during the week of February 10, 2011 at number 30 of the U.S. Billboard Alternative Song charts.

The debut album Megalithic Symphony with 15 songs was released digitally on 15 March 2011, the CD was followed on 29 March 2011 on Red Bull Records.

Name

The name " Awolnation " originated from Aaron Bruno's high school nickname. In an interview with Kristin Houser of the LA Music Blog, he stated, " preferring to disappear without saying goodbye, because it's easier ," from which his nickname Awol (abbreviation of the English " Absent Without Official Leave" to German " unauthorized " or " unannounced absence " ) was born.
