The Awuna River is a 322 km long river in northern Alaska. Its source is in a swampy area in the western North Slope. It flows strongly meandering eastward and flows about 45 km southwest of the Ikpikpuk River in the Colville River, which flows into the Arctic Ocean.

The former name of the Alaska Natives for the river, " Uwanmun " was founded by RK Lynt and recorded in 1924 by P. S. Smith documented by the United States Geological Survey. The name meant something like " west ". The name is now used by the natives is " Sakvailak ".
